Our Claims Process Explained

Claiming from Clientèle is clear and simple. You will be able to claim in case of: natural death, accidental (unnatural) death, hospitalisation*, dread disease, disability or legal advice.
Funeral Claims

In the event of a death, you will need to lodge a claim on the deceased person’s insurance policy so that it can be assessed.

Clientèle has made it simple for you to claim by giving you the option to choose the method you are most comfortable with:

The Claims Department will need the following when they process a death claim:
  • The deceased member’s policy number
  • A fax or e-mail address
  • The date and cause of death
  • All relevant documentation, signed and certified by a Commissioner of Oaths, e.g. bank manager or police officer.

Life Claims

In the event of a death, you will need to lodge a claim on the deceased person’s insurance policy so that it can be assessed.

H.E.L.P Claims

In the event of a hospitalisation* for more than 2 days, you will need to lodge a claim so that it can be assessed. Claims will be processed upon discharge* from hospital*.

NOTE: As of 3 November 2014 only hospitalisation* recommended by a qualified Medical* Specialist, not a GP (general practitioner), will be covered on your H.E.L.P Plan.

  • Name of person in hospital*
  • Date of admission* and discharge*
  • Cause of hospitalisation*
  • A fax or e-mail address
  • All relevant documentation, signed and certified by a Commissioner of Oaths, e.g. bank manager or police officer.

Who can claim?
Any person  who is a main member or beneficiary / dependant on the policy may lodge a claim.
How do I claim?
A main member or beneficiary / dependant on the policy may lodge a claim in the following manner:
  • In writing: You can contact us in writing by faxing us on 011-3203362 or emailing us on customerservice@clientelelegal.co.za, as soon as reasonably possible after becoming aware of a claim.
  • Telephonically: You can contact us on 0860 004529 to lodge a claim. For your convenience, this number is operated 24 hours a day. Please note that this number is for legal claims only. For general / administrative related queries, please call 011- 320 3000.

How is the claim assessed?
Each claim is assessed according to its merits, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy by our legal claims team.

Dread Disease Claims

If you are diagnosed with one of the following dread diseases: cancer, a heart attack, a stroke, renal failure or need an organ transplant, you can lodge a claim so that it can be assessed.

The Claims Department will need the following when they process a dread disease claim:
  • Policy number of the insured
  • Name of insured person
  • Type of dread disease diagnosed
  • A fax or e-mail address
  • All relevant documentation, signed and certified by a Commissioner of Oaths, e.g. bank manager or police officer.

Disability Claims

If you have been declared permanently and totally disabled you will need to lodge a claim so that it can be assessed.

The Claims Department will need the following when they process a disability claim:
  • Policy number of the insured
  • Name of insured person
  • Nature of disability
  • A fax or e-mail address
  • All relevant documentation, signed and certified by a Commissioner of Oaths, e.g. bank manager or police officer.

Cession Form

When you cede a Clientèle policy that belongs to you, it means you give ownership of your policy to another party. A bank cession involves giving ownership of your policy to a bank in exchange for some form of security, e.g. a loan.

Ceding a Clientèle Policy:

Requirements for cession application
  • Completed cession form
  • Please see below to download the Bank Cession form
  • Copies of the Identity Documents of the life assureds, i.e. member and spouse covered
  • Copy of Clientèle Life’s policy document
  • Completed Bank Cession form from the bank
