Q Does this policy work like a Medical** Aid?
A
Medical aids pay for specific medical procedures and medicine. The Clientèle H.E.L.P Plan pays out cash per stay for your non-medical expense cover as a result of hospitalisation. This policy is not a Medical** Aid but provides a cash benefit (as selected by you) to yourself in the event of hospitalisation*, as set out in the terms of the policy. This is a not medical scheme and the cover is not the same as that of a medical scheme. This policy is not a substitute for medical scheme membership.
The cash can be used as you choose, for a recovery holiday, any additional expenses or to supplement your income.
Q When can I claim for hospitalisation*?
A
After you have been discharged from hospital* you can submit your claims documentation to us so that our claims department can assess your claim.
Q What does the three day deferred period mean?
A
Cover on the H.E.L.P Plans only start from the 72 hours in hospital*. The deferred period of three days means that you need to be in hospital* for longer than three days in order to qualify for a claim.
Q What documentation do I need to submit for a H.E.L.P claim?
A
You will need to submit:

  • Your final hospital* account to establish the dates of admission* and discharge;
  • A fully completed claim form;
  • A medical* report form completed by your regular doctor;
  • Our claims department will obtain any additional information directly from the Hospital* and the admitting doctor.
